Bayu Pratama

Konsultan monetisasi publisher Indonesia (independent sejak 2017)

Bayu Pratama bekerja sebagai konsultan monetisasi WordPress untuk publisher Indonesia sejak 2017, melalui tahun-tahun crackdown AdSense. Membantu situs yang menghasilkan $20/bulan tetap menghasilkan $20/bulan setelah strike kebijakan pertama mereka, dan situs $2,000/bulan diversifikasi sebelum strike kedua.

Background

Bayu started consulting Indonesian publishers in 2017, the year the first wave of AdSense "invalid traffic" suspensions hit Jakarta hard. He wasn't qualified by any certificate — he had a media-studies degree from UGM and a WordPress side project that earned him $340 a month, which at the time was already more than his cousin made as a junior copywriter. People started asking how he did it. He started answering. Within a year the answering had a name and a small monthly retainer attached to it.

What he learned between 2017 and 2023 is the thing nobody outside Indonesia writes about: AdSense is a foreign company's product that doesn't understand Indonesian publisher reality. The payout threshold is in USD. The bank transfer happens on US-business-day rhythm. The policy enforcement assumes a publisher has a legal team and a backup income source. Most Indonesian publishers have neither. So when AdSense suspends an account during Lebaran week, the publisher loses three months of revenue at the moment their family expenses are highest. Bayu watched this happen to twelve clients between 2018 and 2021. After the third one, he stopped recommending AdSense-only setups.

Now he writes for the publisher who has a website, has traffic, and wants to make money from it without depending on one foreign platform that can disappear them on a Tuesday morning. Adsy.tech, Monetag, PropellerAds, Adsterra — these are real names with real publisher rate cards, and Bayu names them the way an honest senior recommends restaurants. Not because anyone paid him. Because somebody had to tell the truth in Bahasa Indonesia about how this actually works.

What Bayu writes about

  1. 01 Indonesian publisher economics — six years of consulting Indonesian site owners across niches
  2. 02 AdSense alternatives for Indonesian publishers — Monetag, PropellerAds, Adsterra, Ezoic, Mediavine (where qualifying), popunder networks generally
  3. 03 Local payment integration — DANA, GoPay, OVO, USDT, bank wire, the IDR conversion-fee math
  4. 04 Bahasa Indonesia content + SEO — conversational vs formal Bahasa, regional dialect considerations
  5. 05 Mobile-first design for Indonesian traffic — 85%+ mobile share, low-end Android assumptions
  6. 06 What he avoids: native US/EU advertiser-side traffic-buying tactics, iGaming (regulated in Indonesia), crypto-promotion campaigns
